Result-oriented lawyer with massive experience working with both the government and private sector, have worked with several NGOs both within and out of United Republic of Tanzania. Her legal knowledge is spiced up with knowledge in diplomacy and international relation and this allows her to smoothly working with multinational teams. She is passionate about using her profession to bring about changes in the society by touching people’s lives.

 

LEONARD J. MALASA
Board Secretary

Dr. Leonard Malasa, (MD, PGD) is the founder and serves as the CEO of Tanzania Better Health. He is a medical doctor with experience in the healthcare industry for more than ten years. He started medical career after joining clinical medicine training course in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania where he also engaged in community health outreach programs under the mentorship of Dr. Coles, Dr. Mackey and Dr. Saitore. Malasa later acquired his Doctor of Medicine degree from Hubert Kairuki Memorial University in Tanzania. He also has a training background in project monitoring and evaluation. Some of other trainings underwent includes medical genetics and genomics at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Malasa has worked across the levels of healthcare in his home country, from primary healthcare in rural settings to national referral hospital facilities with involvement in clinical work, public health activities as well as participating in research and teaching medical students. Currently he works as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health at Hubert Kairuki Memorial University. Throughout his career journey Malasa has been particularly motivated and passionate about medical education as well as serving the community.

DAVID I. MINJA
Board Member

Dr David Isaya, (DDS, MPH, MBA (CM)) is a Public Health Specialist who also holds a Masters of Business Administration degree-Corporate Management. He has more than eight years of experience in Quality Improvement and management in health both in public and private sector. Apart from experience in the field of Quality Management, he has also worked in Issues of Public Private Partnership (PPP), and Health System Strengthening. He currently serves as the Quality Improvement Coordinator at the Christian Social Services Commission (CSSC), the largest Umbrella organization for Church Owned Health and Educational facilities in the country. The projects he manages enroll and assist health facilities in the step-wise improvement of quality of services towards accreditation using the SafeCare Methodology. Prior joining CSSC, David has been a member of the Council Health Management Team (CHMT) at the Kisarawe District for more than four years. He has played part in the development of different National Guidelines and manuals, contributed in the development of guideline standards for health facilities in Tanzania, Quality standards for assessment of the Regional, Zonal and National Hospitals, Basic Health Standards for health facilities in Tanzania and the current Tanzania Quality Improvement Framework which is in progress. He is currently a member of the Health Sector Technical Working group for Quality, and is honoured to serve as a board member in the Private Hospitals Advisory Board for the second consecutive term

MARTHA E. MBONA

Ms. Martha Mbona, (RN) is a registered nurse currently working at Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. She received her nursing training from Nkinga School of Nursing in Tanzania. Ms. Martha has an outstanding experience in healthcare industry for over ten years working as a healthcare provider and as a leader both in private and public health facilities. She enjoys providing quality healthcare services to patients with integrity and high standard of nursing ethics and always remains focused to patients’ needs. Martha has worked in Paediatrics ward, General Intensive Care Unit, Pre and Post Heart Surgery ward and Cath Lab. She has also been serving as a nurse in-charge of the different wards with roles involving decision making in the respective wards

DEOGRATIAS NGOMA
Board Member

Dr Deogratias Damas Ngoma (MBChB, MPH, BA Bible &Theology) is a Pastor and seasoned Public Health Specialist with extensive experience leading complex public health interventions in resource limited settings in the fields of HIV/AIDS, Neglected tropical Diseases (NTDS), Human Resources for Health and Maternal and Child Health. He holds MBChB/MD from Mbarara university, MPH-Methodology ULB Belgium, Diploma in project management UK, and BA Bible and Theology Global University USA. Dr Ngoma has experience working with MOHs, bilateral donors, foundations and private donors and communities at large. Over the past 17 years working with international NGOs he has held different leadership positions including; Program officer/team leader, Senior program manager, Director of Programs, Country Director, and CEO. He currently serves as Pastor and team leader for Jesus Cares Church and Country lead for ASCEND program in Tanzania
