Like many other sub-Saharan countries, Tanzania has been overburdened by communicable diseases for many years. While considerable progress has been made in addressing challenges related to communicable diseases, Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) are now an emerging public health problem adding to the burden of diseases with serious negative impact on socioeconomic development of individuals and the country at large. With pre-existing societal barriers such as gender inequities, harmful cultural and social practices and gender based-violence, Women, Children and Adolescents remain the most disadvantaged. Diseases like HIV/AIDS, sexual and reproductive issues in adolescents, maternal, childhood and nutritional conditions as well as NCDs such as cardiovascular diseases, cancers and diabetes are among the major health challenges progressively increasing in the country that need to be addressed in a proactive manner.   In realization of these health challenges that are significantly draining the economy of many, in order to address them and achieve the ambitious health and development targets in the sustainable development goals by ensuring universal health coverage, Tanzania Better Health organization was established with the aim of improving the health of the citizens of Tanzania especially the vulnerable group hence building a healthier and more productive nation.
